Supporting the Local Community

About us

What we do

Deeping St James United Charities exists to support local people and strengthen our community. We provide grants to individuals, families, community groups, and organisations within the ecclesiastical parish of Deeping St James, including Frognall.

Our funding helps people facing financial hardship, illness, or unexpected challenges, and supports projects that bring positive benefits to the local area.

We are also committed to helping young people under the age of 25 access education, training, sports, and personal development opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

Every application is carefully considered by our Trustees to ensure support reaches those who will benefit most.

The benefactors

Deeping St James United Charities has a rich history, dating back to the 17th century.

A time from when people living in Deeping St James have given money, land and properties to be used for the charitable benefit of future residents of the Parish of Deeping St James and Frognall.

History to now

During the last century, these charities have been amalgamated to form the present Deeping St James United Charities. This amalgamation reflects the ongoing efforts of the trustees to carry out the wishes of the benefactors and provide support to the community.

The charity's administration is overseen by a team of trustees who work to fulfil the wishes of those people.

The charity's income is used for various purposes, including public purpose and the education of young people in need.

We provide ongoing support for local education, including directly to schools and supporting community needs.

Teams

The Grants team are responsible for distributing money to individuals in need and to support community groups who are improving the social and cultural life of Deeping St James.

The Finance team is responsible for ensuring that our portfolio of investments is wisely managed to ensure that we maintain or grow our capital. It is responsible for setting an annual budget to spend our income (the amount accrued from our capital assets) and monitoring this through the year.

The Marketing team promote the work that we do across Deeping St James and Frognall, encouraging residents to approach us and benefit from the generosity of previous generations when they need to. This involves print media, social media and face to face events.

The Property team manage our rental properties, commercial properties, community resources and agricultural land. We own, maintain, and oversee the management of these assets in our strive to support local community needs.
